Hello fellas, I've been toying with the idea of home brewing for a while now. My wife bought me a True Brew Maestro starter kit and I have yet to try it out, I want to do my homework first. Are there any tips you all can give me? Thanks in advance, Mike

Whoops. Wasn't finished. The book has a quick 3-page introduction to brewing well. I felt pretty comfortable, my first time, following their outline of a brew session. The book is about 300 pages, so there is obviously an awesome amount of info I have yet to read. :) any specific questions?

+1 This is where I got my start as well. A buddy of mine who is in the Army suggested I start brewing and I let it drop for a few months. I was in the book store and saw this book purely by chance, so I picked it up. About three weeks later I've got my first batch in the fermenter and the rest, as they say, is history. Besides How to Brew, the single most valuable resource I've come across in all my brewing is this site you are currently browsing. For tips, I would say to follow Mr. Palmer's guidance and if you have any questions, there are more than enough people here who are willing to help you out. The more you brew, the more you'll learn and the more questions you'll have, but for now, just go through the section on brewing your first batch (I believe it's called "A Crash Cource in Brewing") followed by the section on why you did everything in the previous section. This will help you get your process down and then you can worry about the rest. Until you get your process down, nothing else really matters. Good luck with your brewing. Cheers!

Lots of good videos on YouTube. Just search for Homebrew and start watching. You'll learn a lot.

I guess the only question I have is, do I follow the ingredient kit instructions, or do I do something different?

I assume you'll be safe following the instructions. There may have been a "better" or "easier" way to do it, I'm learning.
