Hey all! I just started my first batch two weeks ago. I am doing a canned kit with a can of Coopers IPA. I added two one pound bags of DME (Muntons) on the advice of the brew shop owner. The OG was 1.045 (temperature corrected) and now it is sitting at 1.000 after 14 full days of fermentation. I am using the kit that has the 7 gallon buckets. It was 1.020 five days ago. Am I good to bottle, or do I risk bombs at this point? The beer is looking quite clear and smells really good too! No sign of infections, either. If I am safe to bottle now, I am going to do another batch right away, possibly a blonde ale or something of the sort. Any tips are greatly appreciated at this point! Thank you all!

You cannot be at 1. The hydrometer reading has to be off. Check it again and report back.

You know what, I was reading where the wort goes up on the side of the hydrometer, not with the level of the rest of the liquid... So it was just a little over 1.something. Can't believe I did that, I was real careful to avoid that last time! And it is a few degrees above 60, it is reading three of the lines above the 10 mark. so is that 1.04? It has the 1.0 line, then two of the hashes below that is where the level is. Sorry, the instructions that came with mine are kinda vague. What do you think? Thank you again!

After reading my post again, I have no idea how to write down what I read off that dang thing. But it is three lines above the 10, below the 1.0 mark.

If you get the same readings with your hydrometer a couple days in a row -AND they are close to your FG that your kit gave you then you should be ok.
Personally I wait a minimum of 3 weeks BEFORE I check to see what the Hydrometer says and let the yeast do whatever they do. My hydrometer must be different because I'm clueless about the 3 lines over the 1.0 mark . . .
The search button is your friend and you should find everything there to make YOUR decision.:mug:

1.016 or 1.006

I am at 1.006. I paid no attention to the lower part of the scale on my hydrometer where it says 1.000 at the top part and ten sections down it says 1.100. It is below the 1.000 but before the first 10, so its not quite 1.010. That makes it 1.006. Hooray! Thank you for all the help. Ill check it again tomorrow evening and see if it has changed any before I create any bombs.
