Hello,
I have been lurking here for a bit trying to build up knowledge and figured it was time to join. My wife being terrible at keeping secrets has told me that I am getting a homebrew kit for christmas. I guess she has been looking for a while and was going to get me the Brooklyn BrewShop brew kit for a few reasons because the mix kits are sold at our local meijers and price. Its looks to be a solid kit (better than the mr beer) and just a smaller size than a 5gal kit so if I do like this hobby the upgrade process will be easier. Anyways hello and thanks in advance for answering my beginner questions.

Welcome to your addiction. This is a great place for tips and advice. I predict you'll be upgrading by February.......

I started with the Brooklyn Brew. The one gallon was great to get me hooked (and when you move up to 5 gallon, you'll already have a grasp on All grain). Upgrading was swift to follow, but now thanks to brooklyn brew I have a one-gallon kit that I can always test out smaller batches on before going to a big brew. Welcome to home brewing!

Im already building a list of the things I think I will need for the upgrade. I think I am lucky because there is a LHBS (Look starting to use the lingo already) about 20 minutes from my house that seems to be well stocked and I have a few things lined up to try. I want a irish/scottish ale, and IPA and I want to try cider and mead down the road. Thanks for the kind welcome
