Been brewing extract for sevenish months now. I've been getting starter kits as gifts from family for a few years now so I finally took the hint and made my first batch in January and have been going non stop ever since. Earlier today I realized that I visit these forums at least once daily and might as well join up. I'm planning to go all grain as soon as I can get to it on my to do list which is still months to a year away yet, but in the meantime I'm looking forward to brewing and drinking some great homebrew. I' ll see you guys in the forums.

Awesome. Glad you are here. I read the forum for two months before I got into brewing. Every time I searched for something I was directed here. Good information. Happy brewing!

I'm in Wisconsin also...Green Bay Area. Been brewing since Sept. of 2012. Started with extracts, partial mash, BIAB, and now doing all grain. The allgrain is well worth the money you spend on equipment, you make it back in savings on the difference of the cost of extract to the cost of grain. Beersmith is my friend when formulation recipes.

Definitely cheaper with all grain but all I could think of while brewing up that first batch was "this doesn't feel like brewing" I had visions of grains, mash paddles, and rims swimming through my head without knowing the terminology for it yet, just had to go by the instant ramen style directions that came with the kit. Totally looking forward to building something to get me there.

Welcome to the hobby, and the group, from CO :mug:

You could do very well here trading New Glarus for the best beers around the country.

I would highly recommend looking into BIAB, Wilserbrewer makes great bags, with a turkey fryer it's the best way to go AG.

If that's a request I've got a pretty good variety of new glarus on hand right now sir:)

Welcome aboard! I'm just down the highway from Green Bay. Considering your timeframe for upgrades, keep an eye out in the fall and you can find a turkey fryer on clearance for a steal. And check out ritebrew.com for supplies, great prices and quick shipping in WI.

I get my supplies at House of Homebrew in Green Bay. I figured they are as cheap as online retailer when they charge the shipping fee.

I've really been playing with the idea of getting a turkey fryer this fall especially since this past winter was so relentless. I'm guessing a few retailers went a little overboard on ordering them for bbq season, I know I did when it came to ordering the charcoal where I work this year. Maybe I'll start doing biab if I can find a good deal on a grain mill this year too.

You can pick up from ritebrew. I've done it several times when I knew we'd be in the area. There's even a fridge to keep yeast cold.

Wow, Ritebrew is cheaper, about 20 miles further to drive, could save about $8 a batch. Even more if I bought my base grain in bulk and got myself a crusher.

Also in Wisconsin here, Appleton area. Good to have more locals. You do indeed want to give Neil a shot at Ritebrew. I have ordered quite a bit from him in the last two weeks. Great service and prices. Neil will crush for you too, a nice crush as well. Comes crushed unless you specify not too.
I brewed with a turkey fryer for the first time last week, thank goodness Craigslist is full of them from time to time! They are awesome!
Wait, if we can trade New Glarus what can we get for Central Waters...lolol
