I just joined up and hoping to learn a lot about brewing. I figured that I love the taste of all types of brews and I love to watch things mature; so why not brew my own beer? I am going to do my own research before I dip into the wallet. Looking forward to talking to some of you.

There is Brew-It-Yourself in Spring, TX which is much closer and much easier to get to than DeFalco's. I know, been to both places, and when I come to Houston, I stay off 249 and Louetta in the Northwest section outside the loop.

Another Texan here as well. :mug: Spent several years in Austin and Houston before packing up to move overseas.

Anyway, welcome!

I LOVE austin! Great city. Wow lucky bastard. I see that you live in tokyo, now. My sister is located in Seoul, South Korea teaching english and im very jealous of her. I would love to travel, but cant do it with my career.

Yeah, Austin was a really nice place to live. Old crotchety folk like me will tell you it was even better "back in the day," before Austin Stories aired on MTV and there was a massive influx of people as Austin became touted as "the next LA." Anyway...

You know what I miss about Houston? The Richmond Arms at Richmond and Westheimer. I absolutely loved that place. Dogfish Head IPA on tap with a cup of soup o' the day... Heaven.

Your sister's in Korea, eh? Nice. I've only been once, to Seoul and Pusan. Truth to tell, I felt like Seoul sort of gave me the cold shouler...and even people I've since met from Seoul will say it can be a little rough...but I loved Pusan. :rockin: Great food, great people, and a ton of vendors, retailers, etc. who spoke Japanese (which was great for me, given that my Korean was limited at the time to only a couple phrases...as opposed to being limited to several phrases as it is now.)

In any case, here's :tank: to you!

Funny thing that you say that. When I was talking to her she said that when she goes out for errands people always just stare at her and gets many dirty looks. She even told me about a time when an elder ran up to her screaming korean and pointed at the sky! Go figure.

Wow. Maybe she was being told, "Alien! You go back to home planet now!" :D Hope she's doing all right over there.

I haven't gotten any of that where I'm located. If anything, I get the opposite, usually drunk guys who, for whatever reason, find me rather interesting. I had one guy pass me at 7:00 am one time drinking a chuhai (kind of like a wine cooler) and raise his can to me and say, "Welcome!" in English. Just the other day, I went into a neighborhood liquor store and within five minutes, the guy who ran the place (who was quite visibly drunk) was flipping empty wine bottles over his shoulder to impress me and showing off his swordsmanship skills with a live blade that he ran upstairs to get. :drunk: This place is like David Lynch Land sometimes...

New brewer here from Fort Worth Tx. First batch about to go into the bottels for Priming. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Looking foward to seeing what this forum has to offer and looking for a local home brew club. :mug:

Hello Fellow Texaholics! Located out in Cypress myself... Wonder how many of us there are on the northwest side? It'd be fun to get a few together for a brew-day...
