Hey everybody!! I haven't bought the equipment to brew my first batch but I can't even say how excited I am about joining this amazing sub-culture of homebrewers. I love to build things and I love to experiment. There's no better sense of gratification than being able to taste your experiment!

I've been doing all of my research and am thinking that I may be going straight into AG brewing. I want to be able to control every aspect of the process. I'm a little OCD so being able to control every aspect of the outcome is a big deal to me.:mug:

Welcome to HBT! :mug:
I would suggest to you that you get a good book on home brewing. The New Complete Joy of Home Brewing is the one I recommend. Read the book completely before you buy your AG equipment. You can definitely go straight to AG but do your research first.
Good luck and let us know what you ended up doing.

Hi!
Welcome to the forum. I went straight into AG and would not recommend it to everyone. But it seems like you are doing your homework. Of the 2 books mentioned in the 2 previous posts I think "How to Brew" by John Palmer is better. "Joy" is a good book but it is a little dated. I have both books. You mentioned you like building things. "Brew Ware" is also a good book for helping you make you own equipt. The "How to Brew" book also has a small section on making you own equipt. Brew Your Own" magazine has some good back issues about equipt. brewing and 150 clones recipes.

Good luck

Thanks guys!! I have already read all the way through "How to Brew" online and it really helped out a lot. Just reading these forums for the last couple of weeks has sparked some great ideas as well.....I'm on my way!
