Hello from Springfield, MO

I have been brewing on and off since around '03 usually only a couple of 5 gallon kit batches per year. I now have more space to dedicate to brewing and I want to take it up a notch. I've always bottled and I want to get into kegging now that I have the room. I look forward to learning more about brewing with local ingredients.

What local ingrients are you working wth?

I'm a SGF transplant, just moved here last year. (Actually, I'm north of SGF)

Hey Caribrew, one of the first things I did when I starting brewing and knew I loved it and wanted to get deeper into it, was I bought a couple of kegs. I really liked not having to bottle my batches and having my beer on tap. I used a small chest freezer back then and a temp controller for precise temp control. Now that my final batch size is ten gallons (2 five gallon corny kegs) it really saves time and space compared to if I had to bottle and then store all those bottles. I later upgraded to a two tap kegerator and this is really a luxury but to me it was worth it. I think you will really like kegging your beer, once you make the investment the kegs last forever with proper care! Good Luck!

With the acreage I have I want to put in some barley in spring. I piddled with hops in suburbia so hopefully I'll be establishing some here next spring on the farm. So I'm referring to things that I can hopefully grow here on the property.

I like Mothers beer but I haven't met them. I have met the guys at White River, the C Street Pale Ale rocks! So does the Gravelbar.
