Torrance, CA to be exact.

I've never brewed but I've been reading books and messageboards for awhile. For some reason I never took the jump.

I recently took a trip to portland and the oregon coast and it helped me make my mind up that it's time to give it try. It seems like a great way to do my dad, get together with friends and make some new friends.

Funny thing is that when I was looking up brewery supply stores a new one opened this week in my city and I love to support the locals.

I'm sure I'll have tons of questions and I'm hoping to get started on Aug 20th.

Welcome. Great time for you to get into homebrewing. Best resource for a beginner is John Palmer's ( another So. Cal brewer ) "How to Brew" The first edition of the book is online at www.howtobrew.com.

If you have a good local Homebrew shop (LHBS), they are great resources, especially if they do classes on brewing.

Not to mention that the National Homebrew Conference in June 2011 will be in San Diego.

Get brewing and submit some beers to local competitions...comps are great for feedback and you never know, you may actual win.

It's called South Bay Brewing Supply and it's in Old Torrance. I drove by right before they opened and it looked nice from the outside.

South Bay Brewing Supply

Red Car Brewery is right across the street from the shop. They used to have a very good IPA but I haven't been in awhile. Angel City used to be in Torrance but I think they had to move.
