Hey all, just wanted to say thanks for this repository of great info. I dove in this summer, purchasing a setup from a friend. Went all in you could say but had more questions then he could answer. After doing some Google searching, seems every answer I need can be found here.

Purchased 4 glass carboys, 4 corny kegs, kegerator, Co2 lines/tank and everything else.

Started off with mainly extract but after doing a few simple batches, decided to upgrade to doing all grain. Purchased a $200 10 gal. kettle/mash tun with ball valve and bazooka tube (looking to add a false bottom but decided I may want to get a bigger kettle with one instead..) and have been brewing every other weekend since.

The girlfriend loves the fact that I've spend over a grand in three months on this new hobby. (Sarcasm)

Anyway, just wanted to drop by, say hi and again, thank you for all the great threads that have helped me out and have even alleviated concerns over potential issues early on. (RSBAHAHB)

Welcome to HBT! I lived in Portland for a few years and I loved it down there. I was on SE 28th just a couple of blocks off of Burnside. I miss the Goodfoot, the Bonfire and Holmans.

What do you have fermenting now?

Cheers!

I love downtown, I currently live a few miles out in Beaverton.

Currently, I have a bavarian style hefe in the carboy. My grain bill got a little out of control and it is clocking in with a projected ABV of around 10%. Blew its top in the first day, had to run out and get a blow off hose and bucket it. First time that has happened to me.

Actually just had a house warming where I had my first all grain batches on the kegs. Everyone loved them and asked when the next party was! Felt good knowing my beer was not only drinkable, but damn good. :rockin:

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Snide, I'm up in NE Portland, near Alberta and brew just about every other week as well. Check out my blog in my sig if you want, and feel free to come out to a brew night sometime.

Cheers!

I have learned to ALWAYS use a blowoff tube with a Hefeweizen. They seem to ferment like crazy. The only other beer that I've had ferment that hard was my barleywine.

My dad lives in Beaverton so I'm familiar with where you are at. Good to hear that your beers were a success. You brewing anything this weekend? I'm going to attempt a sessionable IPA. Should finish up right around 4 ABV with about 55 IBUs (and a ton of dry hops!)

Cheers!
