I started my first 2 batches of cider last Saturday and I will do 2 extract kits this weekend if my brew kettles make it here by Friday. If the kettles do not show up in time then I will crack open a barrel of honey and try my hand at mead. HBT has been a lot of help in deciding what equipment to order.
I am a corn/soybean farmer and beekeeper. My beekeeping hobby turned into an obsession. I went from 2 hives to get a little honey, to 40+ hives and may double that next year. With all the honey that I get I decided that I should learn to make mead. While researching mead making I discovered that I could make beer, cider, and wine with the same equipment. I think this will be my winter hobby or obsession.
