I'm a newbie to the brewing game but already hooked on the 3rd brew. This time its a bock beer (mutons kit)
I've used carb tabs for the first 2 brews but it takes ages to get good carbonation so thinking of using cane sugar this time.

I have not got the money at the moment to invest in a secondary vessel to bulk prime. I have come across a post which suggests melting the sugar in 200mls (6.67 fluid oz) of the beer and allow to cool then add 5ml of this solution to each of the 40 bottles I'm filling

Any other suggestions :mug:

this will work, if you have an accurate way of measuring that 5ml per bottle
otherwise you will get a mix of under- and over-carbonated.

really should invest in bottling bucket, makes it so much easier. USD it's around $16, not sure what currency in Ireland, EUR or Pound Sterling? converted it's around 12 Euro or 10 pound 20

spring-tip bottling wand is vital also

welcome to the obsession, Irish cousin!

I'm going to use a sterile 10 ml syringe, I work in a lab so they plenty of supplies:)

In the US, you can get food grade 5 gallon buckets at a home center for about $4 - don't have to get a $16 bucket from the HBS. You should still get a spigot and wand, so that adds to the cost.

cheers for all the advise, started with a good beginners kit which included filling wand. I will post on the results of this priming method in a month or so.

Boil your sugar in a cup or two of water and toss it in your primary. Give it a gentle stir, being careful to keep whatever you're stirring with a few inches away from the trub on the bottom, and wait about half an hour for the sugar to evenly dilute and whatever small amount of trub you did disturb to settle back down, then bottle.

May not be the most clear or evenly-carbonated batch of homebrew you'll ever drink, but it'll be pretty darn clear and pretty evenly carbonated, and save you a heck of a lot of trouble. I did my first couple batches this way, and the beers came out fine.

You should boil the priming sugar in 2 cups of water and then add to what ever you are bottling from. If you are bottling directly from the fermenter sanitize some type of stirring instrument pour in the boiled priming liquid and gently stir. Then fill bottles. You can prime in the fermenter not the best but you can do it.
