Hello fellow homebrewers!

My name is Jonas and I would like to finally introduce myself to the community.

I am from Germany, still live here (in the Northwest), and started homebrewing in 2017. My beers tasted horrible in the beginning, to be honest, and I thought it had to do with the fact that I was using malt extract at that time. I switched to all-grain a little after that with only minimal flavor improvements. After a longer break, I made another attempt last year and, having read J. Palmer's book, aimed at controlling fermentation temperatures. That solved it for me and I can produce good beers since then.

I currently have a Grainfather G30, two SS Brewtech buckets, several 10l (2.5 gal) kegs, and a Series X kegerator.

Finally, this forum is by far the best source of information for me. And, isn't that great how we are all connected throughout the world? A big thanks to everyone here for providing so much help.

See you around,
Jonas.

I've never heard of Kempen, Germany, so I decided to look it up and see what breweries you have in that area.
I see there aren't any in Kempen itself, but there are several nearby including one that has a "brewing academy" for 99 Euros.
This looks like it would be a fun experience and I'm sure they'd let you take some of their yeast home with you.
Ever been to this place? If I ever get to Germany, it looks like the kind of place I'd like to stop at.

I see they sell a lager and something called Hell naturtrub, which is a cloudy beer? Both are 3.3 Euro about $4 USD, which is less than the bar prices we are used to paying.

Don't get to excited about brewing courses in Germany.... Compared to the US, home-brewing here is still in his infants, most of the sources of knowledge are mediocre at best. Best source for knowledge actually is this very forum here :)

No, I haven't been there, but heard of it. However, I have been here for a beer seminar which actually got me into home brewing in the first place.

A naturtrüb is a hazy beer, "naturally" hazy.
