Hi all.
I guess I should say hello, at least.

The last couple weeks I've been reading this and that on the forum here, and some of it is actually starting to make sense finally.

I got started into homebrewing on a whim. My family and I were doing our weekend grocery shopping and it just so happens there's a small homebrew shop that shares a parking lot. So after listening to me wonder aloud how much fun I thought it would be to brew our own beer, my wife and I head in there to check it out. We ended up walking out with a bunch of equipment and supplies, and now our first batch is bubbling away.

I'm hooked. Can't wait for it to be payday so I can start my next batch.

Welcome to the fun of homebrewing! I think you'll find "payday" is the day you drink the first beer you made and you love it! Or maybe it's the first beer from each batch you brew. Or maybe every beer.

In any case, welcome and best of luck!

Welcome to the addiction! Did you go to Wally's place in Rochester (Von Klopp's)? I was born in Rochester and still head there a few times a year.

What did you brew as your first batch? Try to leave it in primary for 2.5-3 weeks before thinking about bottling. I know the instructions often say to rack it to secondary after 3-4 days, but that usually isn't enough time. Cheers!

The first batch is a Brewer's Best Red Ale kit. So far it's going well, I think.

Yeah, we went to Von Klopp's. Pretty cool little shop.
