Been brewing for about 6 months now and thought that this forum would help my brewing. After one day, I've already learned a lot of new things.

Welcome!

I moved here from Summerville 2 years ago. Where you at in Charleston, capntang?

Hello from Charleston!

Watch out ... it's pretty easy to waste quite a bit of time on here. :)
Trust me...Ive wasted many hours already. What are some good brews out of Charleston?

I've been really pleased with the brews that Coast Brewery has been putting out. Their Blackbeerd Imperial Stout was great, and the HopART IPA is fantastic as well.

I think they put out their first brew last September, so they're still a young brewery. They also house the only local homebrew store in Charleston, as far as I'm aware, and Jaime and David (the owners) are great about handing out advice.

It's unfortunate that the breweries aren't permitted to sell or distribute directly to the customers in SC. If that weren't the case, Coast beer would be a little easier to obtain. Until recently, it wasn't available at all in bottles - understandable since they aren't set up for bottling. The bottles they do release are rather expensive, only show up in one or two stores, and I think they go pretty quick.

Ive never heard of them, but I checked out the website and they look pretty cool. I will definately check them out at Green's. They need to change the distribution laws. Thanks
