Hey gang,
I have been AG brewing with a good friend of mine for the last year off-and-on and am now stoked to be committing to a more consistent practice. Funny how having the right equipment and efficiency nailed down will up the desire to brew more frequently!

Anyways, thanks for all the excellent discussion I have been able to take in so far and I look forward to interacting with many of you through the forums.

Cheers!

PS the unparalleled taste and culture of NW craft and micro brews are what got me turned onto the hobby and man do I feel fortunate to be in the "know". Thanks!

Hello right back at you from BC's Interior :)

Equipment really does make the world go round eh...

Definitely!
What's the brewing scene like in Kelowna? Have you been at it for a while and what kind of brewing methods do you lean towards?
Thanks for the welcome and we'll talk in the future I'm sure!

Hey, thanks for the greetings! Your Imperial Cascadian Dark sounds good right about now! Let me know how it works out?

I haven't updated the signature in a few weeks. That guy has been on tap for a few weeks. It turned out pretty nice. Maybe a hair more residual sweetness than I would have liked. From memory I'm thinking it finished in the 1.016 to 1.018 FG area and low to mid 9% ABV area which really isn't terrible considering it is imperial. It saw one competition and got a score in the mid to upper 30's. If I re-did it I would up my hops just a smidge, and either add more table sugar to dry it out a couple more points, or consider pac-man as a yeast instead of the cal ale I think I went with.

I'm pretty new to brewing, maybe five months or so now, but am progressing into all grain BIAB brewing fairly smoothly.

Our LHBS scene is a bit weak, couple places for liquid extract at good prices but nothing in the way of grains (base malts at least). Though hopdaws.ca in Vernon has been a great find for well priced equipment and grain. Think I'll be hitting Gambrinus directly for base malts next though.

All grain sure has reduced dependence on shops though, I sure do love that!
