Hello all. O am looking to find a 5 gallon All grain hefe recipe. Never made one before but would like a nice tasty one for my first. Any recommendations?

There's a couple of popular ones on the recipes list (see above). EdWort's seems to be a hit, I know. It's pretty traditional, too, if that's what you're looking for.

This one my friends seem to really like!

Most Hefes are 60% wheat 40 pilsner malt with light hopping and use a german wheat yeast. There are many deviations from this formula, but that simple formula will make a very good hefe. Here's a recipe that I plan on trying soon:

I'm going to do a single infusion mash, as I batch sparge in a cooler mash tun. Important: don't forget the rice hulls or there's a good chance you'll get a stuck sparge.

Question: Is there a certain amount of rice hulls to add to the mash? I've looked all over online, and I either see only 1lb of hulls for a 5gal batch, or they are omitted from the list.

If I were to use a recipe like the one above, for a 5gal batch in a 10gal Igloo cooler w/ SS false bottom, would 1lb of rice hulls be sufficient?
