I am fermenting a Hefeweizen extract which had a 1.05 SG and was wanting to boost abv so I added a little over a lb of light extract DME before doing any calcs. At end of boil, I learned that I'm at 1.082 og.
I'm fermenting with wp-06 & was wondering if this yeast will handle such a high abv. Didn't really think much about the end result.

If you pitched enough WB-06 should be able to handle your 82 point wort...

Cheers!

500 grams are in the other normal pack.
Sorry, yes. 11.5 grams, didn't have my specs on
Just for clarity - isn't a normal pack 11 1/2 grams? If so, you'll be fine. If it was 5 grams, you may have some trouble getting going.
Yes, sorry. Didn't have my specs on & only caught the 5 at the end. It's overflowing so had to attached overflow.

Basically every beer I've ever brewed with a Hefe yeast.

I mean you've probably under pitched a bit but that'll mostly just result in more esters and phenols. My biggest concern would it be finishing a bit sweet given the huge bump in FG and the fact that DME often doesn't frement down as far as you expect.

Wp06 is not a hefeweizen yeast, so don't expect a German result. It's more like a wit yeast. If I would brew with it, I'd try a stronger beer so yours is a happy little accident me thinks.

WP-06 was part of the extract kit so I figured it was normal for this brew

I thought phenols were from higher temps. I have some wine yeast i can pitch in so it won't be so sweet.

I thought so, people notoriously get this one wrong, even the manufacturer itself.

Wine yeast wont do a thing with residual sugars, that won't help. The good news is that wp06 has a higher attenuation then real German wheat beer yeast so you should be good anyway.
