Hi all, long time brewer of all grain here from ohio but new to this forum.

I would like to first clean of course, then pour 180 to 200 degree water in to sanitize. I have used iodopher and starsan for years on these kegs. I just want to kill any potential resistance bugs just to be sure since I had a beer taste a bit off. Will the hot water hurt the keg? Will the rubber gaskets melt?

Thanks,

I wouldn't put heat like that in there. If you're worried about an infection do a hot PBW soak (hot as your tap will get) overnight then starsan (full keg soak not just a rinse) overnight. Dump it, seal and purge with CO2 after sanitizing and relubing your O rings of course. Leave it a week. Ain't much living through that.

Or do like we did in the lab..... Lysol spray, wait 5 min then douse with 75% isopropyl and light it on fire :)

Every once in awhile I'll boil water in mine using a heat stick. So, to answer your question; from my experience you won't have any problems.

Remove the posts and diptubes, put small parts in a boiling pot of water and bake the beverage out diptube in your oven. Then do a PBW / StarSan soak as butterpants recommended and you'll be good to go!

What about your rubber o rings and clear plastic poppets do they get removed and done separately or can they handle the heat? I think I'm buying new ones anyhow.
