Hello all,

I'm thinking of switching to plastic to use for my primary fermenters. Only thing that im worried about is the ability to cool my fermenter down to my preferred temp to ferment at. I place my car boys in a small "pool" of water to allow the wort to stay cool. Will I have a problem achieving this due to the plastic?

No, it'll work fine. I have BigMouth Bubblers, and they do fine. I use a swamp cooler and it's an effective way to control temperature.

I also use a heating mat to up the temp when I ramp it up for the yeast to clean up. I wrap it around the fermenter under the carry straps, use a couple of bungee cords to hold it in place, and it does just fine.

Perfect. Thank you for the reassurance. Since I already have my pool Im going with an aquarium heater to up the heat when I need to in the last stages of fermentation.
