Hello all, just racked a mead that was fermenting for a month onto some previously frozen cherries. The picture below shows the head space left over after racking from a 5-gallon bucket to this 6.5-gallon carboy.

Should I be worried about the head space?
I’ll be racking off the cherries in 2 weeks.

Thank you!

I wouldn't worry too much about it in just two weeks, and if the fermentation starts up again on the fruit, I wouldn't worry at all.

I've stopped worrying about headspace. Also, unless you stabilized the mead first, the yeast will be consuming some of the sugars in the cherries and producing co2 which will push some of the O2 out the airlock anyway.
