What harm is there in waiting to harvest the yeast cake until the day after it is emptied?

I didn't have a chance to harvest right away like I normally do so the yeast/trub sat in the bucket with a lid and airlock overnight. I harvested it using my usual routine this afternoon.

I keep a small layer of beer over my trub if I can't harvest it right away, but I've never waited overnight. It only takes a few seconds to dump the trub into sanitized mason jars, so I've done it within a few hours.

I have waited overnight before, and had no issues. However, I have since quit harvesting yeast. If you do starters, consider overbuilding your starter and putting the extra portion in a sanitized jar for future use. It’s so much easier than harvesting yeast.
