I am brewing NB Innkeeper as my second brew. As it uses Nottingham yeast I was thinking of buying a couple of gallons (in glass carboy style bottles) and trying to harvest yeast after primary fermentation to start the cider fermenting. Am I able to simply take some of the trub/yeast from the bottom of the Innkeeper fermenter and pitch directly into cider gallon bottle, or will I need to wash the yeast from the trub?
Also as I plan on pitching it immediately without storing will I need to make a starter? If a starter is required could I use concentrated apple juice (thawed from frozen to correct temp)?
Thanks in advance.
