The aroma of the Mt. Hood is as you describe. "Delicate" is a good adjective.

Not quite as "in your face" as the Cascade. I'm thinking about using some of the Mt. Hood in a brown ale.

This may sound like a really dumb question, but are you sure those are cascade hops? I only ask because I've never seen cascade hops flare out on the edges like that. Mine are nice and compact looking. You can check out a video here: Homebrew Junkie . The ones you harvested look more like the EKG that I have growing. I'm just curious. That's all.

I think the hops open up when they dry down. My Mt Hood has done this. BUT I don't know about the others. I pick Cascade this week and will know more soon. C

Yes, rhizomes are sold in the spring. March seems to be about right.

My Cascade made it to 1 stem 4 inches high Next year I'm going to dig a big hole and put some better dirt in it and cage it in to prevent the lawn guys from continually weed whacking it.

Hi everyone,

I live in the Chicago area(can not tell where LOL). I have cenntennial and hallertau growing in my yard..first year. My brothers neighbor has wild hops growing. I went to check them out and they are everywhere growing around bushes and weeds..hard to say the type..I will post some pics tommorrow..I am a new grower and the cone was a shorter fat..almost square look to them. My brother picked just a few vines and we probably have a pound already,,,just a tip of the iceberg so to speak. The vine is as thick as my pinky finger in some places so I would guess it to be old but not sure how old..

I will get pics of leaves and cones tommorrow so I could use some help to identify...
