I know it's too early for this year, but next year I'm hoping to throw a kick-ass halloween party and, of course, I want to have enough beer available. I plan on inviting friends, co-workers, neighbors and family and I'd like to think up some styles which will appeal to all and some fun names. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. Trick or Treat Wheat
2. Ghostly White
3. Hoppy Halloween IPA
4. Great Pumpkin
5. Saison of the Witch
6. Oktoberfest
7. Frankenkolsch

What styles / names would you serve?

My party's on 10/13, and it's a "who would win in a fight between ninjas and pirates?" Party. Everyone is supposed to dress like a pirate or a ninja. I'm serving a Schwarzbier I've had lagering since August called...... Davy Jones' Lager.

RIP IPA

I used to have an annual "pumpkin party" where each fall I'd invite family, friends, co-workers and we'd have about 10 crockpots of "cold weather food" like chilis, stews, etc., and everyone would bring beer/wine (this was before I brewed) and we carved pumpkins outside around a fire. It was always a total blast. People would talk about this party all year round. Once I moved away from a state that actually doesn't have the season known as "Autumn", I stopped doing it. But I've considered doing a Halloween party kind of like what you are describing. Of course it would be a costume party, and of course I'd dress up as the Dude in my bathrobe.

That sounds AWESOME. I might steal that idea when I have my big Halloween party next year, since we'll have a lot of kids. I could see having some family involvement - mom draws the eyes, kid 1 draws the nose, kid 2 draws the mouth and dad carves it up. To set up for it, I'd clean all the pumpkins, which means I'd have plenty of pumpkin seeds for roasting and serving as snacks.
