I am about ready to start a low end Wine Expert kit, one of the Chais Maison styles. I thought about adding a litre or two of Welches grape juice to enhance the flavour a bit. The staff at my lhbs say this is not a good idea because Wine Expert kits are fine tuned and should not be tampered with in any way.
Any opinions here? This is a Merlot kit, btw.
All replys appreciated.

The low end winexpert kits are definitely not fine wine- but they are pretty good and very drinkable, a bit like Two Buck Chuck or one of those in quality.

Adding some Welchs would make a thinner, more tart, and less flavorful wine. I wouldn't do it.

You could just start some Welch's wine on its own, instead of diluting an ok kit.

Yea, take yoop's suggestion. There is alot more to learn now about the process and the recipes can come later after you tune your equipment and such.

from experience! I'm still tuning...... (and such)!
