Thanks Bill, I was looking for a hyperlink. I have it now
I don't see the rice hulls I ordered, are they considered "extras" like hops and Irish moss?

Here's what in showing:

ThirstT,TF-MOPA,Thomas Faucett & Sons LTD,Maris Otter,0.79,1,43.45,43.45 ThirstT,GW-2ROW,Great Western Malting Company,Premium 2-Row,0.57,1,28.5,28.5
ThirstT,1080- B-1,,Irish Moss,0.57,1,8,8 ThirstT,GP-RICE,,Rice Hulls,0.57,1,21.5,21.5

I'm sorry Bill, I meant that the list of sacks for the group buy didn't have the rice hulls. I was wondering if they counted, or should count towards the "70 sacks" we're currently at. Again, sorry to make you do more work on this one.

If you're referring to the spreadsheet, I have to update that manually. But, yes, rice hulls do count as a sack.

I have a question that I would like the group to debate and answer. Should people who are only in the group buys for items other than grain be allowed to participate? I'm on the fence for reasons I will not discuss. I would like to know what others think?

Bill, I'd say that considering you coordinate the buy, provide the storage, the fork truck, deal with a boatload of folks coming and going from your business, solicit the vendor proposal, deal with the splits.. if you don't want thingamabobs or doohickies on the order.. I fully support that... it is called a "group grain buy" after all. And grain and hops are probably the most marked up bulk product at the brew shops.
So whatever side of the fence you you want to fall toward, I'll push you. What are friends for.

Side note: I'm picking down my garden, if timing is right on pick up I an more than happy to share jalepeno, habanero, chili, kungpao, cayenne if anyone does the crazy heartburn brews.

Im with Neopol. if its a PITA dont do it.

On a isde note...this thread blew up over the weekend....who is in charge of the hop buys? I did grain inventory and think im good through winter.

To my knowledge most of the hop buys are full. You may have to start one yourself. I think someone was trying to get a "Summit" buy started, there may be something left in the "Pacific Jade" buy, but I'm unsure.

what ever happened t o ThatGuyRyan? He used to buy 10 sacks minimum every buy.

Probably not until March or April. It's 42 sacks per pallet. Not sure how many pallets we should aim for.

awesome! I could use a sack of pale malt. I went to the website and registered.

I don't see your hbt user name anywhere.

I've got a sack of Rye malt on my order I'd be willing to split in half if someone is interested.

We are at 79 sacks. Should we add a third pallet? I'm thinking yes since its only been 72 hours since we started. Comments?

If anyone is willing to relay south I'd like to get in on this. I'm about an hour south of crown point on I-65. Anyone already going in that direction let me know. Thanks.

RC0032 hop splits are being done by individual, for example I have 11 lbs each Nelson Sauvin and Pacific Jade both of which filled very quickly.

So if there a delicious flavor you want add it to your order and post a msg for split takers... I might be good with another couple lbs depending on variety.

Brewmeister I go as far as Munster, there was a guy in Hobart last buy.

Bill, any idea how they handle the hop contracts or would you mind asking with the next rfp. I might be willing to park some hard to get types

Was thinking citra simcoe, I'm open, thought it be nice to secure some of the harder to come by at a decent price types for brew year 2013.. we don't have to get them all in one buy of course. Would you at least inquire about it...I think it would be cool for the good of the whole.

Our Hopped Up MoFo used almost 3 lbs of hops for a 15 gal
