I'm making my first all grain oatmeal stout. I would like to bring the flaked oats home from my LHBS and toast it before I use it, but I don't have a mill at home. Do I need to mill the flaked oats, or will it convert without grinding? Thanks.

No need to mill flaked oats, cause they are already rolled, and processed.

I have thrown then in the grain mill simply because they were already in with uncrushed grain. Nothing bad happened with them crushed so either way is fine. They simply turn to mush when you add the mash water so crushing is NOT needed.
