Greetings from DesMoines, WA! Newbie here,
I have been reading the forums for a while and thought i would join up!
I have just made my 3rd batch, (Munton's Old Ale kit, extract only with yeast packet from kit)
it was funky, I may dump it, but its only been kegged for 2 weeks.
I think it went bad when the temp in my basement fermenting room(closet) dropped to 50 degrees during the primary, and i let it sit in the yeast for a few days longer when I couldn't rack it when i wanted to. Could the temp affect the yeast that much? Also, could letting the beer sit in the spent trub for a week affect the taste? (I have looked around and have not seen any threads on this)
If it went bad because of sanitation issues i may go crazy, because the last few batches over the years have had the same aftertaste, and I can't think of anything more i could do to sanitize my equipment.
thank you for any input!
