Hey mates, Matt here calling from Finlandia!

Been an enthusiasted beer drinker for over a decade now but apart from one half assed coopers tin kit try never really attempted to make my own. The last apartment where we lived sat over an enormous antsnest so you couldn't even whisper sweet nothings to your missus' ear there without getting occupied by those fookers, let alone splashing around with worts or god forbid have a fermenter bubbling somewhere!

Now that we've moved to our own house I've kinda been secretly wanting to try it again, and so it happened just very recently that an american friend from a biker forum approached me saying hey I got this deluxe brewing kit from Northern brewer getting kicked around, never even unboxed, want it? And I'm like heck yea I want it! Mailing it here into periferia will cost nearly as much as getting a similiar kit from here but I don't care.

So yea probly gonna start with those liquid whataretheycalled kits to get my spurs, and when I find a big enough kettle that won't get me robbed would be tempted to try the bag method to create my own recipes.

My hands down favourite brewery is Sheperd Neame and from them the creme de la creme IMO is MasterBrew, so my aim will more than likely be towards kentish style brit ales. Already got a crazy idea from a Finnish forum to some day try adding tea into the mix :D

I don't have a dedicated space to do this so the equipment will have to coexist in the garage with my motorbike builds, so I was planning to build a cabinet for the fermenter and the bottles to do their thing in so they won't get contaminated with metal dust or whatever's in the air at any given time. It's probly a bit warm in there as well but it's my best bet anyway, the only one to be precise.

Looking forward to get into this better and being able to brew my own beers!

Thx for the welcome! Right now my head's spinning from reading about all the things involved, for example am trying to figure out what exactly is the role of spraymalt (meaning what does it do to the end product -> how can I tweak the extracts to give me what I want)

I'm lucky enough to have a shop that sells all this stuff about half a km away from my work so I can pop in to ask stupid questions when I go shopping for the extracts etc. Currently looking at trying a St. Peter's ruby red ale kit for my first batch and trying to figure out what kind of spraymalt would do what, probly gonna try Munton's medium or Munton's light.

Probly gonna take a month or two to get a batch going as I first need to make the closet mentioned earlier, my "brewery in a box" is currently sitting somewhere in Denver CO waiting for me to pay the shipping, I got a buildoff bike in the making, two kids, company to run etc... keeps the mind fresh to keep yourself occupied :D
