My name is John. I'm 40 years old. I used to be an avid home brewer, but certain circumstances pulled me away from it in 2000. Now, I'm ready to get started in it once again. I'm having to rebuild my home brewing kit from scratch and I hope to get a batch of equipment on order in the next week or two. I also like blues music and cooking with beer.

Blogging is another interest I have, so I recently started a blog on beer and blues that I intend to use to chronicle my experiences in home brewing, blues music, and cooking with beer.

I live in Hickory, North Carolina. I was taught the art of home brewing by a very capable brewer here in the area, so I won't call myself a 'noob' at this point... I'm probably just a little rusty on some techniques :)

Welcome! My MIL hails from Spruce Pine, and still has family in the area. We get down there about once a year.

Post the link to your blog! Mine's linked in my signature if you care to follow along.

Welcome John,

I just joined the blog myself. I too had a detour in my homebrewing practice (life got in the way the last 10 years with a divorce, a marriage, and raising 3 wonderful kids).

I brewed my first batch yesterday in 10 Years !!!! It was awesome to get back to it. The kitchen hasn't smelled so good in years!

Good luck with getting back into it.

Andy

I'm having to start from complete scratch with my homebrewing kit. I'm gonna order a kit from Williams Brewing in the next week or two. There are some things not in the kit that I'll need to order as well. I hope to get a batch fermenting sometime soon :)
