Well, actually I'm brewing in the 'burbs.

What started with building a kegerator has now grown into brewing my own.

I am only doing small 1 gallon batches for now, but am patiently waiting to sample my first attempt.

I look forward to growing my skills while at the same time trying to learn all the nice new acronyms!

Hey, welcome! I'm also in the burbs. There are quite a few of us here from the greater Chicagoland region.

Cheers and happy brewing!

Welcome. I live in Roselle. There is a pretty decent homebrewing community around here. What do you make with your first batch? I have been thinking of starting up a homebrew club for people in the area to get together and share some homebrew, tips, and maybe even get together to brew. Thinking bout hosting it at Bigby's in Addison. If anybody reading this is interested, let me know.

Love Bigby's and would totally be willing to help setup a suburban club. I was speaking with the manager of Sal's in Addison about getting a club going around here.

My first batch was an American Pale Ale from a kit from craftabrew.com

Since then I have been to Kyle @ Chicagoland Winemakers in Elmhurst for resupply and advice.

I have been wanting to join a club for a while, but I figured, why not start one. I have a few people already that are interested in this. I don't know what or when a club becomes "official" but I'd say we have the makings of a homebrew club starting up.

Good luck with the APA. Why just a 1 gallon batch? Just to get your feet wet?

Yeah, I'm just getting my feet wet for now. It's just a matter of time until I step up to a larger setup. My problem is that once I start down a road, I end up going all in.

So should we start a new thread for the group in the local forum?

Hey it's my first post on here but I had to chime in with my fellow Chicago 'burbs home brewers!! :rockin: brewed my first batch last week, an extra stout from the Home Brew Shop in St. Charles, we'll see how it goes.
