From what I've seen from lurking for so long, there are a number of fellow Michigander brewers so at least I'm not alone. I started out over in the Flint area, spent a few years in Lansing, and now I'm down in the very southwest corner of the state.

Anyway, I'm not afraid to admit I've never brewed anything other than a cup of coffee, but looking forward to getting started with beer. I'm not new to drinking it, just making it :D

I'm in need of a hobby that doesn't involve sitting on a computer and have been contemplating home brewing for some time now, but never really got around to making it happen. Hopefully I'll have all of my equipment in the next week or so and start on my first batch.

Even though I haven't started yet, I've already learned a lot from all of the discussion here. :mug:

Welcome. Go for it, I put off making beer for years and once I finally started, I found a hobby that has been rewarding.

As somebody's sig around here mentions: It's a thin line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Welcome to the board, the hobby, and the obsession! :mug:

Welcome to HBT! Learn as much as you can so that you can justify "saving money on buying beer."

If you are like many of us, that thin line has become nonexistent in the eyes of our SWMBOs.

Thanks, everyone. My last hobby turned obsession had to do with vehicles, so no matter the cost of brewing my wife is glad to see me find something a little less costly to occupy my time :D

Welcome from a former Traverse City person. The SW corner of MI is a nice place, and has good local wine.

Welcome marubozo! If you're interested in attending any club meetings or events check out M.E.G.A. in South Bend or there is a club that meets at The Livery in Benton Harbor.

Welcome! Now get your sht and get brewing!

It's a mild obsession for me. I have a couple of project cars that I need to get back into, but first have to haul one up from downstate. Brewing has filled in my need to obsess better than I could have imagined. I can actually spend less time in the garage working on my car, than I do on a brewing day.

Welcome,

You´re really lucky that you live there, You see how many brewers around?

I came from a place with no LHBS, with no Starsan... I feel so alone here....:ban:

Welcome! Now get your sht and get brewing!

It's on its way! Fedex should have almost everything I need on my porch by the time I get home from work tomorrow. Should be brewing on Saturday.

It must be an obsession already since I had a dream about brewing last night

Hi from the Alma/ Mt Pleasant area!

Luckily, I have a couple other hobbies, like making cheese and sausage and cooking.

The mental illness comes from my kids:D
