Does anyone have a clone for this recipe. The beer has been a winter staple of great divide since 1995 but I can't find a single clone out there anywhere. If you don't have one would anyone care to take a stab?

Thanks all!

great divide hibernation ale

I made a different winter warmer from this site and it was so aweful I dumped it. I would recommend this recipe over anything else.

Here's a recipe from a different thread at brewboard.com. Sounds like you could top it off with some 2-row to hit your target OG and have a pretty close replica beer.

Well, I accidentally made this beer while shooting for a pseudo-brown ale recently. My O.G. was a little lower than Great Divide's but the aroma, flavor and mouthfeel wouldn't have you know it. Tasted side-by-side with Hibernation and it's pretty much dead on. Just thought I'd pass it along. Best beer I've ever made.

All-Grain
5.5 Gallons

14# Vienna Malt
1.5# Flaked Oats
12 oz. Caramunich
8 oz. Special Roast
8 oz. Biscuit
6 oz. Chocolate Malt

1 hour mash at 154
65 minute boil

1 oz. Amarillo at 65 minutes
.5 oz. each Northern Brewer & Nugget 15 min.
.5 oz. each Northern Brewer & Nugget 5 minutes

Yeast: Wyeast 1335 (British Ale II)
2.5 week primary at 68 degrees

Just picked up a case so I've got some to age for another year or two. Absolutely love this beer.

I know it's primarily Vienna, but I would've guessed that there's at least some Maris Otter in there. Maybe like an 80/20 split. Seems a little high on the flaked oats. Also, while I've never picked up on it, most reviews say they get a very subtle smokiness in the finish. Wondering if they maybe use Wyeast 1728 around 62º. Also, the Amarillo seems really out of place.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

Edit: Just had a bottle. It might actually be all Vienna for the base malt. Still not picking up any bits of Amarillo though. Maybe Magnum for bittering and Northdown for flavor/aroma?

So I brewed that recipe above back in september, but substituted amarillo for chinook and used WLP005 because the LHBS was out of WY1335.

To be perfectly honest, I like mine more. It's incredibly similar flavor wise, but mine is just a tad more drinkable. Honestly if you want to clone the beer, this is the recipe to start with. Some minor tweaks (some sugar perhaps to up the ABV to give it that bite) and you'll be good to go.

Here’s whats on their website. How are they calling this an English ale with cascade and centennial though? Maybe changed since 2012?

I find this frequently - homebrewers tend to get carried away with specialty malts. Big breweries for the most part don’t do this. Their recipes tend to be much simpler.
