Grain Mill Questions

Another Corona mill user here, I love it! Bought it for like $35 and have milled hundreds of lbs with it, even put it in a cabinet and put a motor on it. And as someone else said about grain mill purchases, it's one if the best AG investments I've made.

I just bought a grain mill with a fixed gap. The gap is supposed to be around 0.05" (1.3mm) but is actually close to 0.07" (1.9mm). I would normally just take it back but the store is 400 miles from here. The owner of the HB store says it doesn't matter but it seems too wide from what I pick up on the forum.
Before I use it can anyone advise me on the absolute max gap please? I put a handful of rice through just to test and it just fell through.

That doesn't sound good at all! Gap should be about credit card thickness I believe.

Try double or triple milling the grain, or until almost every piece of grain is well fractured!

What's the difference in the 2 roll versus 3 roll systems ?

The 3 roller conditions it a little. If I didn't have it, I'd just spray a little water on the grain before milling. I'm brewing today. I'll see if I can get a picture of my mill.

.05" is on the edge of reasonable and .07" is way too big. Can you get an accurate measurement?

I think it is going back and I will add some cash and get an adjustable Crankenstein.

I don't know what mill I'd buy if this one wore out? It's not showing any signs of ware though. It's unstoppable, the mill, not the motor. You can totally stop the motor. I only do one sack at a time or it starts getting warm. MM-3 had it for 2 years
