I was confused why a recent brew was taking forever to carbonate. Then after opening one bottle that was carbonated.. then another that wasn't. It occurred to me that possibly the golsch seals were bad. (never replaced the cheap seals with new seals). Is there anyway to recover from this mistake. If i replace the seals, there would be exposure to air. But would it carbonate? would adding prime tab risk explosion? or chalk up for experience?

When I still bottled back in the day, I used swivel tops like Grolsch, Fischer etc. exclusively. Just as cheap insurance, I replaced the gaskets yearly. My advice is to drink them as is, replace all of the seals before the next time you use them. If you try anything more now like adding more priming sugar or tabs, you are just asking for bottle bombs.
