Well hello all, I decided to join the brewing world and have found this site now. I must clue all my future mentors into my trials and tribulations so far:

It starts in January, I got a beginners kit from Northern Brewer, and a few other things. February 14 was my first brew, a Belgian White Ale. It ended up a bit darker than i had planned, but was quite good, ended up with an alcohol content of about 12%.

Since then I have not brewed again, sadly, summer was terrible working full time to save money for graduate school at Illinois.

But alas! I have now purchased another carboy to have 2, and I have ordered 2 more kits. An English Brown Ale and an American Ale and will likely brew both in the next few weeks to get my carboys filled up and bubbling!

I look forward to my teacher's (you all) advise and leadership!

Welcome to HBT and glad to have you here. On the other hand, prepare to suffer defeat at the hands of Mizzou. :rockin:

Go ILLINI,

careful, i started with a brewers best kit last fall and have proceeded directly to building a two tier brew stand in my garage out of 3 kegs and 1 pump. all grain putting together my own recipes. the best piece of advice is that the internet is a valuable resource.

cheers

Hey stever, that's not cool. Support your team, don't bash ours... especially with the way the game is going, congrats on a good showing so far, but the Illini are a second half team.

um.. that's not bashing your team, it's called smack talk. Relax a little, it's only a game.

still a good game though and you guys have a good team. It should be a good year for both schools.
