Got around to taking some pics of my Belgium haul. Took me a couple days to get caught up on sleep after my vacatbinge.
Had planned on going to Beer Temple in Brussels as it's supposed to be a good place for glasses. Wanted to fill out my gueuze tumbler collection, but I ran out of room before I got there!
The De Nacht van de Grote Dorst were a whopping 2€ each at the bar and I bought the Cantillon glasses at the brewery. Probably should have gotten the Iris glass instead of a 2nd degustation, but I was already worried about getting the balloon home. Really wanted to buy a pitcher, but my bag was already maxed out with beer. Timmermans glass from the crazy bartender below.
Overnight layover in Philly on the way home, so I met some friends at TH. After staying up all night before flying back from Brussels, I topped off the evening at TH with falling asleep on SEPTA on my way home to my friend's house in the city. At least I didn't leave the glass on the train.
Verzet is a great newer 'brewery'. They're currently contract brewing, I think at De Ranke. They have a barrel facility and they're making the best our bruin I've had since prePalm Rodenbach, which is also being imported to the US. Glass was a gift from bartender I went to see at work, after I'd met drinking elsewhere the day before. He also gave me directions to his favorite bar, where I ended up staying until almost 5am and getting glass bombed by the owner/bartender when I told him I collect glasses.
Brussels Beer Project is another new brewery, also contract brewing and opening their own facility soon. Had a great US hopped IPA from them. Love the De Ranke glass! Good excuse to buy more of their stuff.
Finally, weird Beersel glass with QR code. First time schlepping glasses home in quantity, was quite relieved to get them all home.
Already plotting my return next year so I can finally get to Esen and get my De Dolle tasters!
