Going to brew some recipes next weekend that require some specialty malts that my LHBS doesn't carry. I also need them crushed before they are sent. I usually order my things through northern brewer because it gets to my place in a fair amount of time. I've never ordered grains through mail before. Do they get to their destination viable, fresh and usable?

I've been brewing for 6 years now and sometimes still feel like a novice. Ha!

Thanks, as always.

They will be absolutely fine. Northern Brewer, More Beer etc.. ship specialty grains in sealed bags so they keep nicely.

Grains from NB or BB&B are probably fresher than your LHBS grains. Think volume. Northern brewer even puts a little sticker on the bag with the date it was packed!
