Welcome to HBT. I almost always recommend Muntons pre-hopped kits for new brewers. A word of caution though, the 5 gram pack of yeast should be replaced with a good quality 11 gram pack.

Nasal AIDS can easily be avoided by not sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.

If anything, homebrew is the CURE for Nasal AIDS!

I have nothing to add regarding Crotch Rot.

Boiling wort cures crotch rot AND nasal aids. Just use your junk to stir & use the boiling wort in your neti pot, you'll be fine. RDWHAHB.

It's a very involved scientific process using a pressure cooker and acid wash. Once you've removed them from the homebrew and separated the crotch rot from the nasal AIDS, you can store on slants for future propagation.
