My Papa came to the USA from Munich Germany and I make a lot of ales using German ingredients.

Plan was to do some yard work today, but....
Morning cloudy w/lite rain and looked like it would get worse so...
Began brewing an IPA w/all German style ingredients.
This IPA will use only Munich malt, Magnum and Perle hops, and K-97 dry yeast. I did this once before and it came out pretty good so here goes another round.

75 min mash in 5 gal Colman cooler BIAB
60 min boil in 4 gal pot on propane
As usual I'm hoping for three 6 packs bottled

4.75 lbs Munich malt
.6 oz Magnum hops at 60 min
.75oz Perle hops at 15 min + 1/2 tsp Irish Moss
.75oz Pearl hops at 5 min
SafAle German Ale yeast K-97
3 weeks in primary @65*F
3 weeks in bottles @ 70*F

12:25 p.m. BeerSmith estimated pre-boil SG at 1.048. Measured 1.0475.
3:26 p.m. 1.75 gallons into the fermenter. BeerSmith OG was 1.069 Measured 1.068
I'm a happy camper. Now into the fermenting freezer at 65*

What are you measuring with to get so many numbers east of the decimal point?

Good for you, that is insanely close to your planned gravity!

I have a Refratometer and a chart I downloaded from the net to covert to SG. Sorry didn't save the link. LOL
