I don't get out of the Midwest too often. I can get many of the nation's big name craft brews at Binny's....our regional liquor store. Just curious if people from other parts of the country can sound off with what regional brews to try that don't get shipped nationwide should I ever find myself leaving my comfort zone.

Any idea where your next trip will be? Lots of craft breweries out there. Some of the places in Dallas:

Mac and Jacks in the Pacific Northwest. You'll have to go to a pub, they only sell kegs. Their farthest east delivery is Idaho. If you get to the Seattle area, find their brewery and take the tour, get a free sample of each of their brews.

If you make it out to Arizona, FourPeaks puts out some great brews. Their Kiltlifter tastes great and packs a helluva punch.

I'm so glad to hear them getting represented! They are a hometown favorite and just about every bar within 10 cities has them on tap. I work literally 500ft away from them (and about 10 min from a few other microbreweries). But Mac n jacks has some incredibly delicious unfiltered beers.

If you see ninkasi over there don't be afraid to try them out. The Renewale is the best porter I have ever had to date and the Total Domination IPA is definitely a favorite with the crowds.

I am probably no help but have a few great ones around me. Bear Republic, Russian River, Medocino Brewing, Lagunitas. I used to live near Eel River Brewing and Lost Coast. Six Rivers brewing was close too. Most of there beer is available in a lot of areas but I would check their web pages because thay also have small batches that are not seen everywhere.

I know BA doesn't get a lot of love, but their website is enormously useful. There's a directory here. You can select the US, then look at what breweries are in each state, then see what beers each brewery makes, and what they're rated at. It's not going to give you distribution information, but if you travel, it'll help you out a lot.

As far as VA specific, I would say Legend and Williamsburg AleWerks are two larger ones that probably don't get much distribution far from the East Coast.
