Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

Picked another basket full today. All i have left now are some jalapenos, a few Caribbean Reds and Thai giant orange im waiting on to ripen. Gunna pic the last of the jalas for a relish Monday. I like a mix of ripe and green for my relish.

we've had a rubbish summer, most of mine are not ripening. Had similar last year, I think next year I will just stick to varieties I know will work up here, like jals and cayennes

Anaheims should be ok too in cooler climates. Another good one is called Beni Highlands. Its a milder type of habanero from Bolivia. Not heatless but milder than most. I grew them this year and im still getting nice pods.

Big news. My tomato plant....the vegetable which has given me much grief for three years...has FINALLY produced in the last few days. I have about 9 which are coming or have come in; better yet they are all ripening at different times so none are going to waste. Seriously excited.

Banana peppers and Bell peppers are doing their thing again now too. I'm not getting clusters like you all, but I'll take what I've got!

My fall garden is coming along finally, the potatoes are poking their heads out along with everything else. I actually harvested some turnips and spinach today. The okra and peppers is a typical "every other day haul" right now.

Hope everyones garden is kickin some ass right now!

Probably the last harvest for the year as it's starting to get cold here at night and plants aren't having it.

Only a couple tomatoes, some jalapeños, habaneros and fresnos. One red and a bunch of not pictured green bell peppers.

My potatoes are growing, and I am harvesting turnips, spinach, radishes and mustard greens on a daily basis now. The cabbage has been slow to sprout, maybe due to the warmer termps. The beets are doing well I had to thin them out today.

Need to check my turnips and radishes. They are pretty much the last things left for the year. Everything else is close to finished. If I get the ambition I'll prepare another raised bed for next year.

Went ahead and harvested everything that's left. Looks like we will get our first freeze of the year. Going to have to make a radish soup or something...

forgot to say I caned 85 quarts of green beens, picked until my legs went numb,now I'm set for the winter

Starting to clean things up. Dumped container plants into the compost. Still need to cut plants out of the raised bed and mow where I had melons grow. Fall projects will make Spring easier. Just figuring what is first priority.

I have new carolina reaper sprouts I just transplanted to containers. Getting ready for winter peppers.

It looks like I get one last good week here, sunny and mid-60's this week. Then it's going to get cold. After our monsoon this past weekend, these plants should push through the next week just fine. Still getting some tomatoes, hoping they can grow quick this week!

A few more ripe ones going in the dehydrator for a powder blend. Poblano, Sandia Select, ripe Much Nacho and Caribbean Red habs. Naturally sweet heat.

I'm not sure which types of cabbage that I planted, are growing so well. I think I got the 2 rows mixed up when I seeded the 2nd time due to not seeding them thick enough the first time. Does anyone know, will the Bok Choy be obvious? They are just about to start forming heads I think, I counted 59 heads total so hoping for a good harvest.

Hopefully my garden won't freeze tonight, it's gonna be close. We're still picking zukes, cukes eggplants, tomatoes and squash. If it doesn't freeze we;ve got another week at least of warm weather.

its going to freeze here over the weekend and I mean 29F which sucks because its going back up the next week, all fruit needs to be picked or covered and heated and I'm too lazy

I sewed a few more radishes and spinach today, dunno if they'll do anything or not as late as it's getting in the season. Everything else is doing fine still, spinach, mustard greens, cabbage and turnips.

My winter wheat has sprouted good and hopefully will make some good beer in the late spring.

I had a nice potted Thai pepper plant that I brought in the house to try to overwinter. It had little hot peppers all over it (a variety where the peppers point up, so they were all at the top) When nobody was watching, my 10 month old pup destroyed it. There were peppers and leaves all over the kitchen, and almost nothing left of the stems except little wood chips.

The best we can figure, she bit one of the peppers and it bit back, then it was "Game on" and she won.
