Suggestions, please.

What's the correct way to measure the Barley Crusher's gap? Using a feeler gauge?

Also, what do you folks who use the Barley Crusher like for a gap setting?

We're still at the factory setting, but are interested in upping efficiency. Currently at about 75%.

Thanks as always.

you should be able to use a spark plug gap tool to measure it. I think it comes factory at .39

A lot of people don't mess with it. 75% isn't bad, and tweaking your sparge method might boost efficiency more than adjusting the crush.

that's all I have...

I didn't use a feeler gauge, but tightened 45 degrees from the factory setting. My efficiency went way up, but I had stuck sparges on both of the brews I've done since I tightened it up. I am going to back off half way back to the factory setting for my next beer.

75% isn't bad for an efficiency: go with it and call it good. That's about what I get with my Crank and Stein. You won't get much better (maybe +-5%, tops).

I get ~83% with the factory setting. I wouldn't mess with that, but I might check out other areas to see where I could improve techniques, like strike temps, mash pH, adding a mash out, etc. if you're looking to up your efficiency.

I actually had to subtract a pound of grain per each one of my recipes when I got the BC to keep my gravities in line.

Oh yeah, 75% is pretty decent.
