I have a chance to get my hands on a pretty good sized galvanized tank that used to be used for a water heater or something like that, I want to use it for either a brew pot or a big fermenter, but apparently it is galvinized. Is that a problem, and does that make it pretty much useless for me? Or is galvinized not a problem?

Cheers :mug:

Yeah, you would probably cause zinc poisoning to everyone who drinks your beer.

Your wort is acidic and will leach the zinc out of the pot and into your brew.

A small amount is ok (in the old days some recipes called for tossing a zing washer into your kettle)...but an entire pot of it is dangerous.

What are the Symptoms of Zinc Poisoning?

Seriously bad idea. Zinc poisoning is on the rise because the US Mint switched from copper to copper-clad zinc for pennies.

I thought I remembered hearing that galv was either really good or really bad, thanks for the heads up guys!
