Hello, first thread, here we go.

Just racked a "holiday ale.". Tossed one bulb of nutmeg into the secondary two weeks ago and when I popped the lid it was floating and had a patch of white fuzz on it. Any cause for concern? There was no fuzz floating on the beer, just on the portion of nutmeg above the "Beer line."

Tasted the beer, thought it was right where it belonged.

Thoughts? Dont want bochelism...HMO's suck

Thanks in advance

You won't get botulism it can't exist in beer. Nothing pathogenic can.

It doesn't sound like you sanitized the nutmeg. Probably all that happened is some mold formed on the part of the nutmeg that sits above the surface of the beer. If you tasted the beer and it tastes fine then you're ok.

You might want to read this, an it's acompanying link so you won't fear your beer.
