Funky best by date on WL838

I just stopped over at my LHBS store and picked up WL004 Irish ale yeast and a WL838 Southern german lager yeast. I was excited to see the 838 because they were out last time. In my excitment I forgot to check the dates on them.

I just checked them.

The WL004 was May of this year. GOOD.

The WL838 Had 020229. Huh! WTF! This was a new shipment for them trying to decipher the number all I could come up with was Feb 29,2002. Which didnt exist because it wasnt a leap year.

Any Ideas?

Yea, I'm sure they can track it down from the lot number.

I sent them an email. Ill report back when they respond. I was just wondering if anyone had see this before.

This is what they had to say.

"I have production looking into this but I am quite sure it is just a typo or print error.

Im pretty sure the yeast is ok, so it sound like I get that one and a coupon for another. I would have be happy if they could have just figured the date out for me. I love costomer service like this.
