Has anyone successfully brewed a juice that contains this? A search yielded no results. It is in the safeway cranberry apple juice cocktail i just bought.

Interesting. Casual research shows FA to be an agent added for sourness, and an intermediate of citric acid. Used on fruit juices to preserve flavor, balance taste, and fight e. coli. From what I read, it looks like a (cheaper) substitute for citric acid (for stabilization and presevative). I did read on note on sometimes being used w/ sodium benzoate. But I'm too lazy to look up sodium benzoate and fermentation. ;-)

It's a quick read.

Hey, what are you doing using Fruit Cocktail? Don't you know that stuff will get you drunk? Just make cider. (heh).
