Alright, so I'm sampling Fuller's London Pride for the first time tonight as I relax in my dorm. I've heard great things about this beer. However, it is very different than I anticipated. Is it just me or are there hints of like prunes or currants or something "woody" in this beer? What would impart flavors like this, or has my pallet gone crazy? It's very interesting. I have 5 more, I guess I'll have to conduct further research....

I dig that beer.

I think that you might be tasting a combination of factors. For one thing, it's made via partigyle, which i guess could make it taste just a bit off from a first running + sparge typical beer.

Next I'd say would be the condition of the beer. Sitting in a shipping container,s pasteurization, age all could give crystal malts some of the rasiny, currant character depending on your perception.

Just some possibilities. Doesn't seem too out of the ordinary to taste those flavors fwiw.

I'm definitely enjoying it, I just found its flavors to be very interesting for this style. It's tasty though, don't get me wrong.
