Has anyone ever done a dunkelweisen using fruit? I was considering a raspberry dunkel and wondered about the end result.

I was thinking of using a 3# can of Oregon fruit puree. I wanted to give it just a subtle raspberry tartness.

THoughts?

I think that would be quite subtle (possibly too subtle).

FWIW, the raspberry beers I've had that I enjoyed most were base styles that, like a dunkelweizen, had some malty backbone. I don't tend to like basic american wheats as a foil for raspberry, although I seem to be in the minority on this.

I am the same way. That is why i was thinking of starting with a Dunkel. Maybe a can and a half would be a little less subtle, without being overpowering.
