Hi.
I'm from Italy and here we usually use plastic buckets (with spigot) as fermenter.
In Italy I think 99% of homebrewers have never seen a carboy.
We usually use demijohn for wine.

Now I've found a store in my city that sell glass carboy.
I've read many articles about pro/cons glass carboy.

Is it possible to bottle directly from carboy? Autosiphon?

Thanks

You would want to go from carboy to bottling bucket via a siphon.

And why is that, you may ask?

Answer:
Because you want to stir/mix in your priming sugar, and if you do that in your carboy or fermentation bucket you'd stir up the yeast and trub, which would end up in your bottles.

There is no reason to use (glass) carboys. Plastic buckets are great fermentors, cheap, last a long, long time if you're careful not scratching them, don't break, come with a handle, are easy to clean, etc.

The only thing is, plastic buckets cannot be easily used as secondaries, if you ever need to use those, or for bulk aging. For most fermentations, though, leaving the beer in the primary is best anyway.

I primary in carboys, and autosiphon directly into bottles. Priming sugar added to the carboy, and let sit for a few minutes to mix, with a light swirl with the siphon first. Yeast doesn't rise up much, but most of it ends up in the first bottle if it does. Mark it if needed. You could also prime the bottles individually. I don't. Never had an issue.. One in 10 has maybe a little more carbonation, or a little less than the rest but never had anything explode. Some sitting for a couple years now..
Just my experiences. Not trying to tout anything.
